Manufacture of Fixed Centre Multi-Heads was initiated in 1980, when demands for higher precision, increased cutting tool speeds and rapid delivery would be essential for success. Four series of fixed heads were introduced: MT, TC, TC3 AND TFS. 'MT' SYSTEM - for small center distance and drilling; also low torque requirements The minimum center distance is 10mm; below this the head's reliability becomes questionable. MT units are normally very compact, and with 3 or 4 spindles weigh little and are permanently lubricated. Rotating components are hardened and ground and are carried in anti-friction bearings, enabling these heads to run up to 10,000 rpm. In special cases, MT heads are built with large bodies and a high number of spindles - even in excess of 20. 'TC' SYSTEM - for medium center distance and drilling Many TC system - medium capacity heads have been supplied for drilling machines, unit head applications, special machines and machining centers. Outstanding is that this standardized series has become the industries' modular multi-head market leader. Head bodies of many sizes and forms have been rationalized. With a minimum center distance of 16mm, hole patterns can be provided for any client need for spindles with all types of tool connection (DIN 6499 collets, DIN 55059, KOMET, ABS, DIN 18995 etc.), and are carried in combinations of selected needle, angular contact ball and precision taper roller bearings to suit all tool types. Threading spindles with lead nuts give a minimum center distance of 28mm; additionally, fixed and movable columns with bush plates for tool guidance are available when required. When the tools or work demand, TC series head spindles can be run in excess of 10,000 rpm.
'TC3" SYSTEM - for use where peak productivity and long runs are required The TC3 series is the embodiment of High Technology; it is the system of high power machining with large units, on transfer or flexible machining systems with automatic head change. Massive, solid and weighing up to 900 kg their applications are limited only by the host machines. TC3 head bodies are usually of cast iron incorporating hardened and ground transmission with positive, pressurized lubrication systems. TC3 heads frequently carry spindles with 100mm bearing diameters, as do many types of machine tools. Machine tools are frequently integrated with these heads and the quality of work produced depends almost entirely on the heads' precision.
'TFS' SYSTEM - when multi spindle drilling heads are unable to satisfy the work required The TFS series is dedicated to those heads which are thought-designed and custom-made. |
